Thanksgiving was a blast this year! It went by fast...but we feel so blessed we were able to spend it with family! Kade had a four day weekend for Thanksgiving and we looked at flights to slc, but it was too expensive to only be there for four days...and then to turn around and purchase our tickets home for Christmas. We had it set in our minds that we were staying in Philly, and I started making turkey dinner plans with other wives that were staying with their husbands as well. Turns out that at the last minute, Kade's parents wanted us to be there and bought our tickets to come home. We will never be able to thank them enough.
Since my entire family had no idea we were coming, we kept it that way.
We flew in on Wednesday afternoon...just in time for my family's Thanksgiving dinner at my Dad's house. Everyone was supposed to be there at 6...well they were late. We waited in the car for almost 45 minutes...until we snuck up and watched through the windows in the backyard. We were SO nervous.
Right when we saw everyone gather into the kitchen to say the prayer, we ran around to the front door and walked in. As we were walking into the kitchen I said, "Ohhh my gosh guys! I am so sorry we are late. We tried to hurry!!" The room was dead quiet with the most confused looks I have ever seen, until Elizabeth let out a huge scream of excitement. We were laughing so hard as everyone came up and hugged us. We heard comments like:
"Wait, I just talked to you while I was on the freeway and you were in your apartment. What the heck?"
"Alright...who didn't tell me that Brittany and Kade were going to be in town??"
"How are you here? I just talked to you on the phone and you were in Philly!"
It was a great surprise, and we loved seeing everyone.
Thanksgiving was the next day...here was my Mom and Ron's reaction when we knocked on their door first thing in the morning.
That afternoon we had Thanksgiving with Kade's entire extended family up at Grandpa and Grandma Wadsworth's house. Kip was in charge of cutting the turkey!
The rest of the weekend was a blur because it went by so fast. Ann, Paytie, and I got a pedicure while the boys went golfing.
We got to see Calaigh and Sterling's new house. Calaigh's belly had grown SO much since the last time we saw her. The boys played mario cart, while the girls looked through baby girl clothes.
We went up to Logan to go see a Utah State game and the boys got to go down on the field! After we went to Grandpa and Grandma Johnson's house for dinner with Ann's brother and his family. We hadn't seen them in a long time!
We also went to a tree lot and picked out a Christmas tree. It was freezing! Rhet, Paytie and Kade were playing pass with a football through the trees the whole time.
We were so glad we were able to go home and spend time with the family. We had a great trip and created memories that we will never forget!!
